Scrapping for Less – August Flavor of the Month Card Kit – Exotic Animals

Who doesn’t like critters? One of my most favorite type of cards to make are cute little critter cards. Well this month we have some fantastic cute critters as exotic animals! Join in the hop and see what wonderful inspiration our design team and guest designers have brought to you today. You will find this month’s selections on the subscription page. Lots of extra goodies as well too on the a la carte page. After hopping head on back to the Scrapping for Less blog to enter the Rafflecopter.

Hello Everyone! How interesting is this kit! Exotic Animals – and what cute animals they are. This kit is filled with interesting embellishments and I tried to use as many as I could one each card!

Card 1, Collection 1, Sketch 3

For card one, I made a shaker card – hiding a chameleon in the shaker window. I thought putting the sentiment on the flag was a great way to add some interest and more dimension. I also stamped another image of the chameleon on the flag to help fill in some of the white space. I wrapped the brown cord around the side of the front panel and tied a bow.

For the inside, I added a small strip of scrap paper from the front panel, then stamped the branch, leaves and chameleon in a light gray ink.

Card 2, Collection 2, Sketch 1

OMG!!! The paper in this collection is SUPER ADORABLE!! For this card I trimmed down pattern paper as shown on the sketch. I used the leaf die from the collection to cut a few leaves and used distress ink to darken the edges. I then stamped, colored and fussy cut the sloth image and added it to the card with foam adhesive. I finished the card with a green gem from the collection and a few sequins.

On the inside, I added 2 more leaves, stamped the sentiment with black ink and the other sloth image in a light gray ink.

Card 3, Collection 3, Sketch 4

I absolutely LOVE this card. I stamped the image on some white card stock and colored the it with Copic Markers. I simply added some green “dashes” to create grass and ran a light blue marker around the meerkat for the sky. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white card stock I trimmed with a fishtail banner die. The paper doily was trimmed to fit under my sentiment. I used the flower on the twine for an added dimension and it filled the space next to the image perfectly!

On the inside of the card, I added a piece of scrap pattern paper and stamped the meerkat image in the light gray ink.

Card 4, Collection 4, Sketch 2

So Sparkly! These parrots deserve lots of sparkle. For this card I brought in some of the gold glitter paper found in the kit. I stamped, colored and fussy cut the parrot. I added it to one of the tags found in the collection. I grabbed some ribbon from my stash to add to the tag. I adhered it with some foam adhesive and finished with a few sequins. I wanted to fill in the space on the lower left so I added one of the paper flowers found in the collection.

The inside of this card was pretty simple, I added a piece of scrap paper on the right and stamped the sentiment and the other bird.

Everything Included with the Double Dip Kit
Everything for the Banana Split Kit!

Who Screams for Ice Cream? This card is super fun to celebrate any occasion! I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic markers. I added Glossy Accents to the glass to make it look a little realistic.

This collection has some GREAT ephemera and I think it makes for some great cards. This card was simply made following Sketch 1 and using the ephemera.

I don’t know about you, but I know of a lot of babies coming in the next several months! This Collection has paper and embellishments for both girl and boy. The card I made is a rough interpretation of Sketch 2. I stamped out “baby” and used similar colors to the paper to color the images.

Celebrate Friendship with Collection 4! I stamped out and colored the image with Copic markers and used one of the journaling cards for the sentiment.

Hello Everyone!  I am so excited about this month’s kit.  There are some great images to color and I really love that all the pattern paper found in the collections is double sided.  I have a love/hate relationship with double sided paper – especially when I LOVE both sides, but it gives so much opportunity for different cards when making cards with just the kit or just the collection.

Card 1, Collection 1, Sketch 2

collection1a

This card sketch was PERFECT for the ephemera that I received in this collection.  I also love how this sketch shows off the many patterns of paper included without using too much.  I cut down the top strip and bottom 2 strips to just a quarter inch, which still leaves plenty of pattern paper for more cards.

Card 2, Collection 2, Sketch 4

Donut3A.jpg

Who can resist Newton?  This little kitty is super cute hanging from the donut and the paper found in this collection was some of my favorite.  I hand stamped Newton and colored him with Copic markers.  I then fussy cut him (which was fairly easy) and adhered him to the card with foam tape.  I love the sentiment “Life is better with sprinkles”; I thought it was fitting since I really love sprinkles!

Card 3, Collection 3, Sketch 1

collection2a

Mini Marci is adorable as ever!  I hand stamped her and colored her to match the bold and bright patterns found in this collection.  I added the cup, spoon and 2 mini coffee bean stickers; I liked they had a little dimension to them.  To finish off the card, I added some stitched lines with a black gel pen around the circle.

Card 4, Collection 4, Sketch 3

collect 4a

Brew It Anya is full of New Year spirit with “You can Brew It”!  This sweet and sassy image was hand stamped and colored with Copic markers.  She was fussy cut and added to the card with foam tape.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  If you’d like to see what I received in my kit, please check out my  unboxing video on my YouTube channel.

So grab your warm beverage, sit back, and hop along with us to see these adorable critters and all the inspiration our designers have to share. Make sure you also put your name in for that Rafflecopter prize!
December Double DipDecember Banana Split
I had so much fun with this month’s Scrapping for Less Flavor of the Month Card Kit.  Flavor of the Month Kits have 1 of two levels you can choose from – Double Dip and Banana Split.   In the pictures above you can see the breakdown of what you can expect in each of the levels so you can choose a level that will work for you.
Did you know you can add on to the kit?  Check out the A La Carte section for coordinating products you can add to  your order.
Scrapping for Less also provides a monthly Sketch Sheet for card ideas.  You can download those over on the Scrapping for Less Website and click on the Downloads tab.
Here are the 4 cards – 1 from each kit – that I made for the blog hop!
Card 1, Collection 1, Sketch 4
bear1A
bear2A
This sweet bear from the Sunny Studio stamp set “Bear Hugs” is so darn cute!!  I stamped him with Extreme Black ink from My Favorite Things and colored him with Copic Markers.  I followed the sketch closely on this card and cut down some of my favorite pieces of the “Winter Skies” pattern paper Scrapping for Less.
Copic Colors:
Bear:  W0, W2, W4
Scarf:  V17, V25
Card 2, Collection 2, Sketch 2
Penguin1APenguin2A
When I saw this adorable penguin, I automatically thought f my sister and how much she would LOVE this card.  She loves penguins and every time I see one, I think of her and smile.  The making of this card taught me to make sure I look at the sketch carefully before just putting it together (I needed to pull a few things apart….hehe – we’ve all done that. Right?)
For this card I stamped the image with Extreme Black ink from My Favorite Things and then colored the image with a combination of Copic Markers and Spectrum Noir markers.  They are both alcohol based and I have found they work together well enough for me.  The papers in this collection are gorgeous but they are so close in color I backed the different pieces with some black card stock so each pattern would shine.
The stamp set in this collection is “Penguin with Mug” by Stamping Bella and the double sided pattern paper is from Scrapping for Less named “Chill”.
Copic Colors / Spectrum Noir (sn) markers used:
Penguin:  C3 , C5  IG6 (sn), Nose/Feet G5 (sn) Belly W0, W2
I found the black area for the penguin is so small there really was no                                     space to try to shade (at lease for my skill level) and I would just use 1                                     marker next time.
Scarf/Hat:  V02, V17, V25, W2
Cup/Marshmallows:  B41, B45, C1
Card 3, Collection 3, Sketch 1
Arctic Friends1AArctic Friends2A
How CUTE are these Arctic Animals?!  I do not usually create scenes with stamps but the stamp set that comes in Collection 3 gave inspiration to create one and I am so happy with the result.  I’m definitely going to do this again in the future and expand my imagination!  I stamped the mountain range that comes in the stamp set, the penguin and the polar bear.
I stamped the mountain range a little off the piece so it wasn’t so perfectly centered.  I used a piece of full stick post it so I could mask off the first stamped image to stamp another mountain range to the other side to make it look a little more “natural”.  I then stamped both the animals.
This collection features products from Pink and Main.  The stamp set is “Winter Pals” and the double sided pattern paper is “Frosty”
I used Copic and Spectrum Noir markers to color the scene and added a little Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink for the sky.  Once the scene was done drying I used a white gel pen and added little white dots over the entire scene to make it look like it was snowing.
Copic / Spectrum Noir (sn) Markers used:
Mountains:  C1, C3
Penguin:  IG8 (sn) G5(sn) V17, V00, W2
Polar Bear:  W0, W2, W4
Ground area under animals:  B06 then went over it with colorless blender
Card 4, Collection 4, Sketch 1
fox1AFox2A
This loving image of a mama fox and her baby was the product of me experimenting with coloring.  I don’t know what I think of it yet, but I went with it.  Isn’t that what creativity is all about – experimenting and going with it?
I stamped out the image using Extreme Blank ink by My Favorite things and colored with both Copic and Spectrum Noir markers.  I followed the sketch and cut down the different pieces of pattern paper.  I used the largest of the Jolee Snowflake embellishments that we receive in this collection to finish my card.
Both the stamp set and the pattern paper are both from LDRS.  The stamp set is called “Arctic Animals” and the single sided pattern paper is called “Arctic Snowfall” – SO Beautiful!!!
I colored the foxes with the following colors in no particular order:
E000, E33, G5(sn), E39, C5, E15, 0 (colorless blender)
I usually end the post with a picture of all 4 cards together but in all the excitement of Christmas week I forgot!!
Thank You So Much for stopping by!!

Double Dip

Banana Split

Hello Everyone and thank you for hopping along with us during the November FOTM Card Kit Reveal Blog Hop!  I made 4 cards to share with you today and I used each of the sketches provided to go along with this kit.

Collection 1, Sketch 4

butterflyA

This gorgeous image from this collection is by Scrapping for Less and is called “What if I Fly”.  This image was stamped with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with charcoal embossing powder from my stash.  I cut the image out with an oval die and used Spun Sugar Distress Ink to add a little color to the edge of the cut out image.  I used the glitter paper and one of the butterfly embellishments that were in this collection.

Collection 2, Sketch 3

floralA

The stamp set in this collection is called “Bloom” by Scrapping for Less.  This image was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  A mix of Copic and Spectrum Noir markers were used to color in this floral image.  I then used an oval die to cut out the flowers and Spun Sugar Distress Ink was used along the edges.  Various pattern papers were cut and adhered to black card stock so it would stand out from the pattern it was layered on.  Sequins finish this card.

Collection 3, Sketch 2

SantoroA

This sweet Santoro Girl was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and colored with Arteza Real Brush Pens.  I chose the real brush pens because of all the delicate lines in this image.  Various pattern paper from the kit followed the sketch design and a few sequins finish this card.

Collection 4, Sketch 1DapperA

The hat from the stamp set “Dapper Man” by Scrapping for Less was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut.  The hat was stamped again on some scrap pattern paper and the band around the hat was cut from that and added to the image.  Various pattern paper from this collection was cut down and put on black card stock to help it stand out from the other patterns.  The smaller of the 2 Metal Arrows by Tim Holtz finishes this card.
